What I Do

You need to deliver photography and want to make it the very best it can be for the budget you’ve got?

With 20 years experience in promotional photography, I can help you with anything from creative ideas, photographer sourcing and lookbooks, to full on production support, art direction and post production. Whatever budget you have (and I know sometimes they’re rather small) I can help you get the most impact from it to sell your content, product or brand. I’ve got the contacts, research, strategic knowledge and production experience behind me.

In an increasingly crowded marketplace, imagery needs to stand out. I’ll work strategically and creatively with all relevant partners to make sure the work is as impactful, editorially and contextually accurate, and as just plain fantastic as possible.

Basically I know what works, and how to produce it with minimal fuss and with value in mind.

Head of Creative Photography at the BBC and BBC Creative for over a decade, I’ve just finished a maternity cover position as Photography and Visuals Lead at COMIC RELIEF. I’ve been a judge for the Sony World Photography Awards, giving talks and portfolio reviews in London and Tokyo and recently have judged for the AOP, Feature Shoot, and the Communication Arts photography competition in the US. I mentor for Creative Access and the Somerset House Upgrade Yourself Festivals.

At the BBC, I was ultimately responsible for promotional photography across all BBC content. During that time some of my personally-commissioned work, as well my team’s imagery, has won awards, found itself added to the National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection, shown in the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize, and featured in Martin Parr’s 2019 Being Human NPG exhibition. In 2019 I co-curated and produced ‘Portraits’ – an exhibition of promotional photography at Elephant West Gallery in London.

Outside of work I’m a keen road cyclist, and for many years have worked in fundraising – volunteering on Europe-wide charity bike challenges as a cycle guide. I once cycled non-stop from London to Newcastle in 24 hours. Well it was for charity, but never again. I was also a junior county tennis champion, sadly reaching my peak at the age of 14. I live in North West London with my wife, two kids and a fluffy hound called Tiger.
